PLANNED CAESAREAN INFORMATION & SUPPORT

Planned C-Section Consultation

A planned caesarean section can still feel like your birth

Having a Caesarean does not mean giving up everything that matters to you about meeting your baby.

Prepare for the birth you are having, understand the choices you still have and feel ready for those first days with your baby.

You may have a Caesarean booked. But have you actually prepared for the birth?

You may already know that your baby will be born by Caesarean, but still have questions about what the experience will actually be like, what choices remain available to you, how you can make the birth feel calmer and more personal, and what you can do now to prepare for the first few weeks afterwards.

Women are often given plenty of information about the operation itself.

  • When to arrive.

  • When to stop eating.

  • What happens in theatre.

  • How long you might stay in hospital.

But there is often much less conversation about the parts that can make the experience feel like the birth of your baby rather than simply a surgical procedure.

  • What would you like to happen as your baby is born?

  • Would you like to see your baby being born?

  • Can your baby come directly onto your chest?

  • What role would you like your partner to have?

  • What happens if skin-to-skin cannot happen immediately?

  • How might a Caesarean affect feeding, mobility and those first few days?

  • And what can you begin doing now to support your recovery and your scar afterwards?

Those are the conversations we have in your Planned Caesarean Consultation.

A Caesarean is the birth of your baby and abdominal surgery.

Preparing before your C-Section can make those first days easier.

We will talk about what to expect after birth, including:

moving and getting comfortable

  • pain relief and recovery

  • feeding your baby

  • the support you may need at home

  • preparing practically for the first few weeks

So rather than working everything out once your baby is here, you already know what may help.

Prepare for the birth. Prepare for your baby. Prepare for your recovery.
